I'm on a quest to grow basil in my kitchen.
Last week I did a little research from the seed growing inside, and what type of soil and the plants should be dressed in basil.
This week I would like to share with you some of the things I discovered during the bank's purchase of seed and soil. It is now easier than ever to grow the seeds, and saving a few dollars for the cooking ingredients together.
Although it might be better to go to the local nursery to findWhat are you doing, I went to Home Depot believes that it is easy to navigate, if you're new to gardening. The basic things you need and the employees can obtain general information. In addition, most of the commuter / urban dwellers, as I live near the Home Depot.
I found three different ways to start a garden window.
The first and most important of the traditional method to find the parts you need to put together your own garden:
ship Soil seeds manure(If you can not find - the research has suggested the fish emulsion as fertilizer)
Optional but useful:
trowel small watering can
This method allows greater flexibility in choosing what is right for you.
I found a long, thin the plants out of the window. If you are planning a garden window sill is a good idea to measure the width of the window before leaving, because farmers are too broad.
You can use any type of drillingsimple - plastic, ceramic, decoration - make sure you see a drain hole at the bottom!
There are many types of soil mixes to choose from. I chose a mixture of organic bank that claims to provide an ideal starting seeds and cuttings. Miracle-Gro are on the way I read it contains ingredients that the plants a good dose of nutrients that deplete over time. More of a natural garden basil. Is not important to me that fast-growing plants, so hugeit will be difficult for things down the line.
Finally, the seeds. I chose a basic package, Italian basil, because they want to use to make pesto and other sauces.
If growing indoors, make sure you buy seeds and plants growing circulation. Although many plants can be started indoors, they should be outside when they get big enough. I think that most of the herbs can be grown indoors.
Unfortunately I could not find a fish emulsion fertilizer at homeDepot. I think it should be that after the trip to the local nursery - but I can wait a couple of weeks before planting will increase.
Overall, I spent about $ 15.00 for two bags of organic soil, 24 "planter, plastic and seeds. This is a great way to start your own seeds because they can choose exactly what you want, and get the most for your money. Drawbacks that the risk of errors. The good news is that autonomy is to learn from theerrors.
Seed stocks
There are also several indoor growing kits are available, ranging from $ 9-20 $. These include everything you need to start with - small planters, pellets, seeds and instructions. Sometimes they are acting in a plastic cover mini-greenhouse for seedlings to incubate. Place the pellet in the planter of seeds, add water, and then ... behold.
I also found a strawberry growing stock in a ceramic planter is appealing about $ 10.
He tried to catchSuch a small stocks and go with it. It seems infallible, and you get a bunch of different herbs such as coriander, oregano, chives, sage, and not have to worry about companion planting and thinning seedlings. We can not, because I personally do not want all these different herbs. Some of them, I never use. However, if you use a lot of herbs in the kitchen and cooking adventures, the culture of these stocks are an easy option and cheap to start.
The BiggerInvestment
An interesting point is actually called "AeroGarden," which is also at The Home Depot. This counter is a small hydroponic garden that uses pellets seeds - I think you can also use your own seeds. possible to grow a garden of herbs, strawberries, tomatoes or a small garden with this method.
Prospective mother-in-law, and so far, it works. You set up, fill with water, light, and let him go. It seems that this is a good idea ifTravel a little and the plants are generally not every day, or if there is no place in a sunny garden. We also see the two met in the AeroGarden blog Viggo vegetables.
Like the AeroGarden because you can choose what you want to plant if you want more or less of the grass, or vegetables, so that it is also quite versatile. It could also be a good way to get the hydro. You can grow them indoors all year round. If I had more money, I'll probably invest in this machine. They are more than $ 100.
So what are some ways to start growing a small herb garden indoors. Hopefully one of them will work. It was much easier than I thought would have to go and pick up the supplies I needed, especially after the initial research. If I can do it too!
